3 Caring for the external fixator to avoid infection

Today we want to share with you some of the care of the insertion point of the nails that is important to avoid the appearance of infections.

  1. Clean the area with a gauze soaked in physiological saline or non-iodized soap, as iodine can damage the stud. It will be cleaned with a circular movement from the center outwards, with which the crusts that may be present will be removed.
  2. Dry with another clean gauze.
  3. Change the gauze around each of the screws in the area closest to the skin and cover them with anti-allergic cloth tape or with a small bandage. Your specialist will always indicate the most appropriate way for this.
